Amorim Expresses Anger After West Ham Denies United Victory at Old Trafford

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim voiced his frustration following Soungoutou Magassa’s 83rd-minute equalizer that denied his team victory against West Ham at Old Trafford on Thursday. The Portuguese coach described himself as “angry and frustrated” after United surrendered their lead through Diogo Dalot’s earlier strike.

Magassa’s first goal for the Hammers came after Jarrod Bowen’s flick-on from Andy Irving’s corner was cleared off the line by Noussair Mazraoui, only for the ball to fall directly to the midfielder who drove home the leveler. Amorim criticized his team’s defensive lapses, particularly highlighting how Bowen was left unmarked by Bruno Fernandes despite being only 5’9″ tall.

The result continued United’s inconsistency under Amorim, who had seen his team win four of their previous seven matches before this setback. West Ham entered the fixture in 18th position with just 11 points from 13 games, ten points and nine places below United in the Premier League table.

United appeared to be controlling the match after Dalot’s goal, which came when Casemiro’s shot deflected off Mateus Fernandes before falling to the Portuguese defender. However, defensive errors allowed West Ham to capitalize on their limited opportunities, with Leny Yoro missing a crucial clearing header that led to the corner.

Amorim confirmed he would address the team’s performance on Friday, maintaining his typically calm demeanor despite the disappointment. The dropped points leave United with 21 points, still within touching distance of European qualification but highlighting ongoing concerns about their defensive solidity in crucial moments.
